Shipping Scheduler

We have an excellent opportunity for a Shipping Scheduler to join our team.

Purpose

The Shipping Scheduler performs a variety of duties in the preparation, scheduling and shipping of foreign and domestic shipments to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Position Responsibilities:

Primary Duties:

  • Prepares bills of lading and related shipping documentation for all orders of finished products. Follows up with carriers to insure timely dispatch.
  • Schedules proper carrier transportation for finished product by accounting for maximum load ability and economic and time constraints.
  • Maintains strong and positive working relationships with vendors.
  • Orders trucks, piggyback trailers or containers to accommodate equipment requirements of daily shipping schedule.
  • Negotiates spot quote rates with carriers during times of rate fluctuations.
  • Expedites and reconsigns shipments in transit whenever necessary.
  • Reviews customer orders and revisions for accuracy to insure proper ship dates and product changes.

Secondary duties:

  • Maintains list of current models and weights.
  • Assists in auditing freight bills to verify accuracy of self-invoicing system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  1. Knowledge/Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year experience in shipping or warehouse setting is desired.
    • Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office applications.
  2. Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to build strong working relationships with carriers; excellent communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Ability to handle conflict and diffuse situations.
    • Detail oriented; strong attention to accuracy.
  3. Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  4. Physical Requirements:
    • Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
