Fabrication Quality Engineer

We have an excellent opportunity for a Fabrication Quality Engineer to join our team.

Purpose

This position is centered on providing Quality Engineering Support within plant operations for the Machine Shop and Plastic Molding Operations. The Fabrication Quality Engineer is responsible for performing problem analysis of critical processes along with machine capability and processes. Additional responsibilities include directing process control technicians assigned to fabrication area of responsibility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities involve plant support
  • Continuous cost and productivity improvement
  • Critical process control and Quality Control Plans
  • Project management
  • Quality Assurance
  • Problem solving techniques
  • Gage design and techniques
  • Processing of returns to suppliers and receiving corrective actions for suppliers assigned

Position Qualifications

  1. Knowledge/Experience:
    • 5 - 10 years of general manufacturing experience in a related position preferred
    • SAP background preferred
    • Must have experience with statistics and how statistics are applied to a factory environment
    • Strongly prefer experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  2. Skills and Abilities:
    • The ideal candidate must be a "hands on" contributor with strong background in Quality Engineering related to steel machining/fabrication and plastic injection molding.
    • Ability to use spreadsheets, database, word processing software, particularly MS Office products
    • Must have ability to prepare data entry screens and sort/index data searches
    • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements
    • Excellent problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude
  3. Education:
    • Bachelors of Science Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Technology, with some background in Industrial or Mechanical Technology. Equivalent years of experience may be acceptable in place of degree.
  4. Physical Requirements:
    • Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting
    • Some traveling may be required
